Multiplayer Memories — Burnout Paradise

With this console generation coming to an end it’s hard not to get nostalgic about what has made these past several years so memorable. So, we’re looking back at what titles have been the highlights, especially when it comes to gaming with friends.

Danny Lilley reflects over one of this generations most unique and enjoyable multiplayer experiences. Nope, it’s not an entry from the hugely popular Call of Duty, FIFA or Battlefield franchises, but 2008’s Burnout Paradise from Guildford-based Criterion Games.

Killzone Mercenary Multiplayer Beta Preview — The Vita’s First Great FPS?

From a technical standpoint Sony’s PlayStation Vita is a very capable machine, yet sadly the handheld is still lacking in quality standout games. This issue is especially true when it comes to first person shooters (FPS) — both the Resistance and Call of Duty franchises failed to make use of the Vita’s two analog sticks, typically perfect for the genre. Could Killzone: Mercenary be the Vita’s first great FPS?

That’s what developers Guerrilla Cambridge are hoping to achieve, bringing some much needed FPS fun into the Vita library with their take on the Killzone universe.

Gamebrit took the closed multiplayer beta for a spin to see whether this is the shooter that Vita owners have been waiting for.

Rush Bros Review

Despite all the complex 3D graphics that modern day PCs can produce there’s still plenty of fun to be found in the simplicity of 2D visuals. Platforming titles like Super Meat Boy and Braid have proved this point by garnering critical acclaim. Rush Bros is yet another title in this genre aiming to make an impact with its own interesting blend of music, racing and competitive multiplayer.

Uncharted 2 DLC Coming Soon

Naughty Dog have certainly been pushing the multiplayer feature in their epic adventure Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Already they’ve offered a multitude of double xp events, a number of holiday specific skins and even a new map but now they’ve got another surprise up their sleeves although this time you’ll have to pay.
