Diablo III reaches the top of the chart with the Reaper of Souls Ultimate Evil Edition, bringing the franchise to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The PlayStation 4 release takes the majority of sales with 47% over 32% on Xbox One, and has the most successful launch on consoles to date, beating the Xbox 360 version by around 500 copies.
The Last of Us (-24%) drops from the top after three weeks up top to slot in ahead of Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare (+200%), which has climbed to third from fifteenth with the release of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 versions.
A small increase in sales fails to keep the Xbox 360 Edition (+5%) of Minecraft from slipping to forth, where a small dip in sales commits the PlayStation 3 Edition (-5%) to seventh.
Call of Duty: Ghosts (+7%) falls one place to fifth, saved somewhat by the release of the final DLC package Nemesis.
Watch Dogs (-11%) plummets four places to sixth and The LEGO Movie Videogame (-11%) drops two to eighth.
Grand Theft Auto V (+3%) slips to ninth ahead of new release Tales of Xillia 2 at tenth.
Falling outside of the top ten for the first time, FIFA 14 (-24%) crashes at fifteenth.
Max Payne 3 claimed the top spot last week, selling ten times the amount of copies at launch than that of its 2003 predecessor. The Rockstar-developed title claimed the top spot by a slender lead of just 8000 copies over Blizzard’s Diablo 3, despite the long-awaited PC hit having a three day sales lead.
Max Payne 3 landed on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with a 58%/42% sales split respectively. Diablo 3 became the twelfth fastest-selling PC title ever in the UK, as evidenced by the current lack of stock both in-store and on the web. FIFA Street (-17%) climbs above last week’s number one Sniper Elite V2 (-68%) at fourth, as FIFA 12 (-8%) drops two places to fifth.
[Prototype 2] (-15%) accommodates the two newcomers by falling two places to sixth. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (+21%) moves up four places to seventh, above rival Battlefield 3 (-2%) at eighth. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations (-6%) is up one place to ninth. Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (-9%) lose two places just as the Olympic Torch begins its journey across Britain, coming in at ten.
