The renowned developers of LittleBigPlanet join forces with Sony Computer Entertainment.
Media Molecule has today announced that it's been acquired by Sony as part of a global development plan known as SCE Worldwide Studios or SCE WWS for short. This plan aims to secure and combine excellence in gaming development for current and future PlayStation platforms with 15 studios from Japan, USA, UK and The Netherlands already part of the family.
Alex Evans, the co-founder of Media Molecule, had this to say on the subject, "Since Media Molecule’s inception, we’ve had a uniquely close relationship with Sony. Over the years they have consistently shown their dedication to Creative Gaming and Media Molecule, not only through their support of the company, but their willingness to take risks and embrace our often unusual approach and ideas. What we’ve achieved already with LittleBigPlanet has proved this to us and we’re excited by this new chapter of innovation and creative gaming, for all involved."
Nothing points towards any huge changes at Media Molecule aside from formalising the exclusive relationship that they already have Sony. As long as they continue down the road of award winning game development then we'll be happy.
