A post over at the Playstation blog today brings news that the PSN's gravity defying racer, WipEout HD, will tomorrow be getting a lovely free update. This will include a whole load of new additions including:
* Online Ranking - players gain ranking points per online race to advance from a WipEout Trainee to the ultimate WipEout Legend accolade.
* Online Badges & Podiums - the top three racers will now be presented in a lovely podium style but badges will be awarded to all players for race performance.
* Game Invites - players can now invite people to their game as well as the ability to see any friend's active game and join them instantly.
* Spectator Mode - if a race has begun before you had chance to join then you can watch from four different camera angles while you wait for the current round to be over.
* Online Options - including weapon, barrel roll and pilot assist toggle as well as lobby privacy options and lap number settings.
