UK Chart: Grand Entrance
Grand Theft Auto: V enters the UK chart in first place, as expected, breaking all UK game launch records to date.
GTAV is the fastest selling game at launch, with more copies sold in week one than all previous GTA titles combined, including more than twice the sales of Grand Theft Auto IV and around 250,000 more than Call of Duty: Black Ops. Rockstar’s latest has already claimed twenty-fourth best selling game of all time after just five days on sale, gathering 89% of all games sold in the week. Xbox 360 is the preferred console, with 57% of the share against PlayStation 3.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 is another new release at second, ahead of the release of FIFA 14 next week.
The Last of Us (+536%) has been bundled with consoles to raise sales significantly and take it to third in the chart.
Saint’s Row IV (-45%) ends a run of four consecutive weeks at the top of the chart by falling to fourth. Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist (-8%) drops one place to fifth ahead of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition (+1%), which gains sales but stays at sixth.
Dropping sales and places in the chart, Diablo III (-49%) collects at seventh and Disney Infinity (-20%) at eighth.
Retailer promotions propel Aliens: Colonial Marines (+913%) to ninth as Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix (-70%) drops eight places to tenth.
Interesting to find that all but GTA V in the top ten make up just 4% of weekly sales.
Harvest Moon 3D: A New Beginning is the last new release this week at twenty-second.
