Fan Made TimeSplitters Game In Development
A new fan-made TimeSplitters game, which has the blessing of series rights’ holder Crytek, is in the works.
Known as TimeSplitters Rewind, the PC-only game is currently being developed by a small group of fans and former Free Radical Design staffers.
We last saw a TimeSplitters game back in 2005, with the GameCube, PS2 and Xbox release, TimeSplitters: Future Perfect. Since then, despite fans calls for a new entry in the time-travelling shooter series, nothing official has come to light. Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli declared that interest in a new TimeSplitters game was not “convincing”.
Now, in an effort to no-doubt appease those dedicated devotees, Crytek have granted a group of avid, skilled fans the permission to make their very own TimeSplitters game, without fear of any potential legal ramifications.
With Crytek’s permission also came consent to use assets from the three original games.
The new game expects to deliver a range of online multiplayer modes along with an assortment of challenges taken from previous titles, spruced up in HD.
A demo of TimeSplitters Rewind is expected to arrive this December.
