UK Chart: London 2012 Takes Top Prize

During the opening week of the London 2012 Olympics, The Official Video Game launches to the summit of the UK chart with a 25% increase in sales. Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes (-8%) drops to second after five weeks at the top. Long-standing Olympic title Mario & Sonic London 2012 Olympic Games (+21%) marks a personal best chart position at third. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier drops one place to fourth to account for the movement. Batman: Arkham City is still riding the cinema-release wave as it climbs further this week to complete the top five.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 drops from fifth to sixth whilst The Amazing Spider-Man drops three places to seventh. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and FIFA 12 are on the rise this week, to eighth and ninth respectively. Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance completes the top ten this week after falling from sixth.

The Nintendo 3DS XL was released on Saturday, July 28th, however no new releases joined its release in the All Format Top 40, however Pokemon Conquest on the Nintendo DS is a new entry this week at twentieth.
