The Amazing Spider-Man, this weeks biggest new release, entered the chart at second place meaning last weeks bestseller, Lego Batman 2, remains at the top spot.
Including The Amazing Spider-Man, three new entries made it into the top five, 2K Games/Take 2′s Spec Ops: The Line took third, while Sega’s London 2012: The Official Video Game debuted in fourth.
Despite only a small loss in sales following this weeks release of the PC version FIFA 12 (-12%) fell to sixth place in the chart due to the strong performances of titles above it. However, an additional release had a better impact for Skyrim (+121%), with the Dawnguard DLC helping it climb to seventh. Take 2 and EA both had more than one title in the top ten with Max Payne 3 (-20%) in eighth and Battlefield 3 (-17%) in ninth.
The PlayStation Vita had one of its biggest week since release, with the launch of Metal Gear Solid HD Collections propping up the top ten — and topping the Vita chart with some ease. The Ratchet & Clank Trilogy sits just behind it in eleventh.
Finally, retailer promotions gave both Mass Effect 3 (+101%) and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary (+101%) a boost, with the former up from No. 36 to No. 15 and the latter back into the Top 40 at No. 21.
